Sifting through someone else’s auric field

In last night’s dream I found myself in someone else’s auric field.

I wanted to start all over. Delete everything.

These are not my symbols, I said.

I knew if I didn’t extract myself that my painting of reality would be made using someone else’s colors. My vision would be less mine and more his.

So I sat there and sifted through his archetypes and energies, drawing clear boundary lines between the things that did and did not belong to me.

My dream self is more bad-ass than I am. She kicks down locked doors, demands answers to life's riddles, dives into the darkness head first.

Two nights ago, I slayed my first dragon in a dream. Someone dared me to do it. They said, "You don't seem like the type to slay a dragon." I said, "Oh yeah? Watch me." I unsheathed a hidden sword I had tucked into my dreambody and slit that dragon in half.

On the dream streets, I became known as the girl who slays dragons. They recognized me by my shoes. I was wearing my "outdoor" shoes, they said, the shoes I wear in my waking life.

More and more I am merging with my dream self. My senses are activated in the dream states, I can smell and taste and touch feels real. Dream telepathy is a common occurrence.

I often credit psilocybin as being my psychic awakening, but the truth is I was journeying in dream realms long before I was journeying with psychedelics. The psychedelics just helped clear out the clutter of self-doubt.

Psychedelics like any therapy is a modality. It is a spiritual technology for self-excavation, but you don't need psychoactive substances to discover your true self.

In dreams I am sober and lucid, and dreaming is what helps to uncover more and more of my eternal memory.

For me, no path is the one truth. I learned this when I was 8 and devastated my mother was moving us from one church to another. I sat in the passenger seat of our car as she drove the roads at night, and I cried asking her why we can't ever stay in one place. She said in her broken English, "There are so many truths in this worlds, I just want you to know them all."

Because of her, I don’t worship statues or dead text. Instead I gravitate toward living energies that pull me and I trust it is my higher heart that is doing the navigating.

Right now what works for me is active imagination, and mudras while meditating. I practice automatic writing as if I am talking to a God outside of me, but in reality I am speaking to the God within me.

Psycho-spiritual tools or techniques are like throwing a bunch of sticky slap hands onto a wall and seeing what works. I play with them — and guided by my imagination — I alter them as I see fit.

Visions and dreams are also tools. These are not dogmas, just glimpses. I don't get stuck in them.

You know those people. The ones that get bogged down with symbols and conspiracy theories. They're on a quest for meaning but every sign is another mystery to define. Rabbit holes within rabbit holes. The definition itself becomes the reality when it should have been a guidepost — a gentle nudge down the stream of life.

Feel the flow of synchronicities, not the stop sign.

I learn “psychic stuff” in dreams and by divine guidance. In waking life, what is most important is self-reflection and integration of what I see and feel. This means: disciplined dream logging, re-entering dreams in meditative states, daily journaling and monthly re-reading of my journals. I am continually re-telling myself the story of my “self” to establish deep continuity and to become aware of the differences over time.

Here’s what else works:

I read books written on the edges of reality. I learned how to dream backwards — reversing my days before I fall asleep. Instead of sitting in silence, I louden the dimensions of each sense, one at a time. I imagine what it would be like to dissolve my self — all of my energy — and surf the waves of soundscapes and scents. I widen my gaze so that I am never really looking at one thing, but taking in the sensorial data of every thing.

Full disclosure: All this required me to loosen a few screws in my head. I had to un-tighten my own frameworks of "what is possible” and “what is impossible" to allow new vision to come in.

Maintenance means bringing out the mental wrench 🔧 on a daily basis and tightening and loosening my own grips on reality. If you're not grounded here on Earth, you're not grounded anywhere. I hold on to this body, I take care of it and I put it first.

Body maintenance is different for every one. You learn by trial and error what grounds you. For me the quickest ways to come down from a (drugless) altered state is cardio workouts and eating meat.

In a dream last week, my squirrel allies — who teach me how to better play and rest — handed me a lug nut instead of a real nut. They said it was for my mental vehicle, to make sure it stays on the road.

I am learning to balance these two ways of life — the vertical and the linear. Coherence exists in the awareness of multiple realities, but the physical reality is a priority — otherwise you become an energy junkie, surfing the waves of cosmic consciousness with no sense of purpose or identity.

Books for psychic activation

Below are some books I read that felt more like psychic activations than anything else. They made me feel less alone and understood.

Again with any reality tunnel you enter — if it doesn’t feel right turn back around. You are meant to feel enlightened, not confused.

For example, Tony Stubbs’ “The Ascension Handbook” awakened me in so many ways, but I backed out of his follow-up — “Living with Soul” — after a few chapters due to the paranoia and some things that made me feel icky. It could be his truth, but it doesn’t need to be mine.

• Psychic vision tends to see more similarities between the so-called “cosmic” and “mundane” than their apparent differences. • The veil of forgetfulness serves another, less philosophical purpose, one steeped in the realm of physicality: Our human forms cannot tolerate the expansive frequencies of our higher selves.
